Students perform at the Kennedy Center - Watch online!
On Thursday, February 18 Â鶹AV students Yuri Noh (piano, Schenly) Coraine Tate (voice, Schiller), Bethany Hargreaves (viola, Irvine), Yurong Bao (clarinet, Cohen), Chloe Thominet (viola, Irvine), Colin Laursen (violin, Preucil), David Olson (cello, Geber) and Carter Coleman (violin, Preucil) performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. as part of the Performing Arts Conservatory Project.
The students performed Grunfeld’s Paraphrase on a Theme from Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus; a movement from Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A major; Schumann’s ˛Ńä°ůł¦łó±đ˛Ô˛úľ±±ô»ĺ±đ°ů for viola and piano; Mahler’s “Liebst du um Schönheit” from RĂĽckert Lieder, “Erinnerung” from Lieder und Gesänge, Vol. 1, and “Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen” from RĂĽckert Lieder for voice and piano; and movements from Janácek’s String Quartet No. 1 “Kreutzer Sonata.”
This marks the twelfth consecutive year CIM has participated in the Conservatory Project which began in 2004 as part of the Kennedy Center’s Performing Arts for Everyone initiative. The Project aims to develop young talent from the nation’s leading conservatories while treating Washington audiences to young performers with extraordinary talent in classical instrumentation, vocals, jazz, musical theater and opera–the next generation of classical musicians.
